Semi Hollow "Butter"

In 2013, we made the first two prototype semi-hollow models of Westville guitars. And they were named Butter and Water by Kurt Rosenwinkel. Since then, Westville Butter and Water have been our standard models and now many artists play them in the world. Both Butter and Water have great jazz sounds with rich overtone, strong mid-range, and very stable bass notes with quite long sustain.

Each model has a solid carved spruce top and a solid carved hard maple back, and a one-piece hard maple neck with an ebony fretboard. The difference between the two models is just a center block installed inside the body. The Butter has a hard maple block so that it sounds a bit harder than Water which has a mahogany center block inside. In other words, we can say the Water sounds a bit warmer than the Butter.

If you are looking for some semi-hollow models which have different tone characters from typical ES-335 sound, we would strongly recommend trying our Westville Butter and Water.
